Do Pump Tank(s) Every Two Years, or When Solids Reach 1/3 Tank Capacity
Do Inspect or Clean Filter Annually
Do Restrict Garbage Disposal Use
Do Conserve Water to Reduce the Load on System
Do Divert Surface & Downspout Water Away From Septic Tank & Drainfield
Do Discharge Water Softener & Furnace Drain to Storm Water Drain (when possible)
Do Leave Septic Tank Covers a Minimum of 4” Above Grade
DONT'S
Do Not Flush or Pour: Medications, Antibiotics, Drain Cleaners, Oils, Paints, Cigarette Butts, Plastic, Rubber, Paper Towels, or Baby Wipes
Do Not Use a Food Waste Grinder (as if you were on city sewer)
Do Not Put Grease, Coffee Grounds, Egg Shells, Coarse Citrus, or Potato Peels, Through Your Food Waste Grinder
Do Not Use Excessive Amounts of Bleach Or Powdered Laundry Soap
Do Not Use Septic Additives
If you are having trouble, here are a couple of things to check:
- Do you have an outdoor lift pump? is the breaker tripped?
- Do you have an alarm box? is it silenced?
- Do you have an indoor sewage pump ? (usually in the basement floor)
